Partnering with Home Works of America, a non-profit organization aiming to provide home restoration services to low-income households in the community, the Columbia office, including several from Encompass, came together recently for a day of service.
Encompass partner Jarrett Coco led a group at one house as a project leader. At this work site, the group re-worked the home’s outdoor steps and created a level landing, finished roof work, replaced several areas with damaged wood siding, replaced multiple damaged windows, fixed numerous railings, added a coat rack, and prepped the exterior of the home for a new coat of paint. Encompass' Ann Boney, Kenya Lighty, and Clara Koon were among the volunteers at a second job site, at which they made the home handicap-accessible for the resident occupying the home. They installed a sidewalk that went from the front driveway around to the back, where they removed the steps and built a ramp.
Encompass has a long tradition of service, with the goal of doing a service project every quarter.
